Benjamin Franklin String Quartet
Philip Glass Quartet no. 5

Benjamin Franklin, an inventor of all types perhaps wrote the very first minimalist music. Compare this musical "experiment" (which uses only open strings) to Glass, who founded the late 20th century brand of minimalism.

The Premier Quartet is also featuring an American History-Music program on this season’s educational series-- relating important American historical events to the music of American composers. (Franklin, Stephen Foster, Gershwin, Joplin, Ellington, Glass). This program will also promote the chamber series, and vice versa., as well as the program for Ruston in October.
