The season comes to a powerful close with Giuseppe Verdi's Requiem, a monumental work that brings the drama of opera into the sacred tradition of the requiem mass.

Written for orchestra, four vocal soloists, and chorus, Verdi's Requiem moves between moments of overwhelming force and extraordinary intimacy. The famous "Dies Irae" erupts with thunderous intensity, while quieter passages reveal the work's more vulnerable and contemplative side. Throughout, Verdi treats the human voice with the same dramatic power and expression that made his operas so enduring.

For this special performance, the Shreveport Symphony Orchestra will be joined by a combine chorus from Northwestern State University, Centenary College, Prisma Vocal Ensemble, and the Shreveport-Bossier Community Chorale, bringing together voices from across the region for one of the largest musical collaborations of the season.

From its first hushed notes to its final moments, Verdi's Requiem is a work of extraordinary scale, emotion, and contrast. Experience this monumental masterpiece live as the Shreveport Symphony closes the 2026-2027 Willis Knighton Health Signature Series.
